The Consul General of China Mr. Wang Yu in his address said that: "the one plus four structure of cooperation of One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative with CPEC as a pillar would open avenues of regional collaboration in diverse fields in not only the short term but also the long term"
Mr. Yu spoke of the Silk Road Business Summit scheduled in Beijing for later on in May, 2017, where prospects of new platforms and problems related to global economy will be discussed.
The keynote speaker Dr. Bengali reflected upon the potential of CPEC and its pros and cons as a "game changer".
He said: "CPEC has the potential to break down age old barriers and can lead to a trade opening from the west between Gwadar and Chabahar port in Iran translating into a trans-shipping port".
Talking about Pakistan's share in the corridor, Dr. Bengali said that it is about 9% only and added: "Nobody is against CPEC, but potential risks and feasibility must be ensured for the project to benefit Pakistan".
Speaking at the event the Sindh Governor said: "Out of the $60 Billion invested by China in the project $34 Billion will come to Pakistan"; and referred to CPEC as the biggest investment venture in the history of Pakistan and said that the real challenge was how to deploy this in the most effective manner.
The Sindh Governor appreciated the interest of the diplomatic community in CPEC and said it was necessary for the diplomats and business community to reflect upon the positive side of Pakistan and said that "reality is far better than the perception".
The evening's proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks followed by a lavish dinner.
